It's always my hope that I can put on all the stencils for an arm in one shot, it's never happened yet. Every square inch of the drawing must be in the right place, especially when there are cover–ups involved. Inevitably the stencils must be put on... taken off, moved slightly, put on again... then finally cut up into smaller, more manageable pieces. Then all the connecting drawing must be done by hand.

It took an hour to get the stencils in place and another hour to do the final drawing on the arm to connect all the stencil parts.

All that was stressful enough, so I didn't even begin drawing the lower arm cover–up.

The outline went really smoothly. Luke sat well. We both felt okay after the outline, so we used TAG anaesthetic spray and calligraphied all the outline, which most often would be done on a second session. The tattooing took 3 1/2 hours, but if you include putting on the stencils and taking breaks, this session took eight hours – I think we watched "Happy Gilmore" 3 times.
