Sessions 5 and 6 were done on consecutive days. Session 6 began with taking off the bandages from session 5, washing the whole arm, and picking up where we left off. I use smaller mags, usually sevens, when I'm finishing, and tightening up work. The final sessions of a big project are the first sessions when I'm doing any tattooing that approaches art. By that I mean when I'm outlining and putting in all the base tones, I really know what I need to achieve. At this final stage I'm not sure how things will turn out. Finally the work becomes much more intuitive, getting the background and subject matter to work together. Sometimes the messiness of the working and wiping will show me something I wouldn't have thought of. Sometimes an area looks nicer when its bleeding so I know it might need a little more red or shading right there. To me... this is what tattooing is all about, there is nothing like it. Today we watched a documentary about art cars called "Wild Wheels", then "Godzilla - King of Monsters" and finished the session with some newsreel footage from the 1930's.
